This Mercer Island home features a pair of modern, double swing, metal, and wood gates. An architect’s vision inspired the heavy-duty metal gate design with large wooden beam members forming latticework centers. The residence is in a gusty area, where wind load on the gate is a concern. Openings in the 16-foot-wide by 5-foot-high custom gate design allow air to flow freely. Below ground gate operators provide a clean look to the gate, without the visual obstruction of a surface mounted gate operator. In addition to the two modern gates, a solid concrete fence surrounds the property. A general contractor provided the 6-foot-high concrete wall.
