This beautiful wood slide gate, an adjacent, matching pedestrian gate, and fence panel with a secure, built-in mailbox create an attractive entry. Access control includes multi-button transmitters to open the gate from the vehicle and a digital keypad to grant access to authorized visitors.
We have built many, many wood gates over the years, but none like this one. This gate is unique for two reasons.
First, the gate is made of ipe (pronounced ee-pay) wood. What is ipe? Ipe, also known as Brazilian walnut, is one of the densest hardwoods available. It is three times harder than cedar. It’s the perfect choice for a wood gate in the Pacific Northwest. It is highly resistant to mildew and decay, and its natural oils make it highly resistant to bugs. Ipe wood has the same fire rating as concrete or steel. Ipe wood is extremely durable and, if properly maintained, could last 25 years or longer.
Second, the wood for this entire project was customer-supplied. After completing his project, the homeowner decided to use the remainder of the wood for his driveway gate and entry. Because of that, we built the gate to fit the size of the wood, and voila!
