In the second half of 2023, Automated Gates completed a steel driveway gate installation at a stately home in Woodinville, WA, the lovely suburban/rural residential area northeast of Seattle well situated for our region’s tech industry workers.
The family had important security concerns. They had been the victims of a burglary—a white van appeared on their long driveway, documented on their home video system. The driver and other disguised men broke into their garage and stole its valuable contents.
Their home sits on a long driveway, invisible from the street. The family decided they needed a driveway gate, not only to protect their property and keep unwanted visitors out but to keep the family dog and their young children in.
The homeowners contacted Automated Gates, and Doug Rich, one of their senior sales professionals, visited their home. Doug and his team at Automated Gates have designed and installed hundreds of automated driveway gate in the Woodinville, WA area and were well familiar with the area.
Initially, the husband and wife were interested in an arched gate design, but when Doug saw their impressive house, he immediately envisioned a custom gate design that incorporated one of the home’s main architectural details, adorning the upper section of the exterior. They loved the idea of a custom steel gate designed to perfectly match their home’s architectural details.
The plans they approved included two stone-faced pillars topped by matching entry lights. The installation of concrete supports and the pillars themselves was complicated somewhat by existing tree roots. Automated Gates encounters these challenges frequently and, with more than two decades of experience, routinely addresses them.
After carefully installing the pillars, they custom fabricated the double-swinging steel gate that matched the home’s exterior detail.
An electrically activated, hydraulic swing gate operator opens and closes the new automated steel driveway gate (with battery backup that provides three days of operation in case of a power outage). The gate can be opened remotely by phone, by manually entering a passcode into the keyless gate entry controller, or by manually activating a switch from inside the home. The system has voice and video connectivity via the Internet.
The team also installed matching steel fencing on either side of the new gate.
The result is a gorgeous driveway gate that elegantly secures another Woodinville home. The homeowners were thrilled with the custom steel gate, service, and experience they received from the entire Automated Gates team.
The double swing gate opens inward yet accommodates the gently sloped driveway. We worked with the homeowner on every detail to make this Woodinville steel driveway gate installation a complete success.
A. Instead of powder coating our metal gates, we use a process similar to that used for high-end automobiles. We prime the gate, paint it with high-quality acrylic polyurethane enamel paint, and then apply a clearcoat lacquer. The gate’s finish can be waxed (just like a car’s). The final product stands up to ultraviolet (UV) rays and weathers far better than powder coating.
